| ANDERS ZORN ARTIST´S HOME AND MUSEUM • No one could paint ripples on water, light reflected on the surface and a woman’s naked flesh like Anders Zorn. Like no one else, he captured the character of the person portrayed. He was one of the best known artists in Sweden and his paintings and etchings have attracted great international attention. ”Anders Zorn is one of the world’s leading artists!” – the art critics were enthusiastic in their praise of the one-man exhibition arranged by the Gallerie Georges Petit in Paris in 1906. The whole world was his canvas but he always returned to Mora, the place where he grew up as the illegitimate son of a seasonally employed brewery worker. During his lifetime, Zorn (1860–1920), made a fortune from his painting and gradually built up a large collection of art and antiques. After the death of Zorn and his wife, Emma, their joint property passed to the Swedish nation. Their bequest is called the Zorn collection and consists of four parts, all in the Mora district: the Zorn museum, where a considerable proportion of Zorn’s own work is exhibited; Zorngården, one of the most interesting artist’s homes in Sweden; Zorns Gammelgård & Textilkammare, an open-air museum comprising several buildings and an extensive collection of textiles; and Gopsmor, Zorn’s isolated studio and fishing lodge. |

Abroad, he is most famous for his portraits and etchings. • Among the exhibits at the Zorn museum are works by Auguste Rodin, and the Swedish artists, Carl Larsson and Bruno Liljefors as well as a silver collection of international repute. • Zorn is the only artist to have painted the portraits of two American presidents: Grover Cleveland and Theodore Roosevelt. • www.zorn.se |
